A Tale of Two Missions: Chapter 11

Hey y’all!

Lot’s of great things have happened this week! I was asked to participate in a musical number with some other ladies in the 2nd Ward. We’re going to sing a beautiful arrangement of “Precious Savior”. It’ll be so good! We’re supposed to perform on the 29th. Hopefully I’ll still be in Wylie by then! I was also invited to come up and sing with the Ward choir yesterday because they needed more voices(: it was so fun! I miss choir!

So lately we’ve been on a service kick… Service is probably my favorite thing to do as a missionary! We’ve been told on several occasions that we were an answer to someone’s prayers. I seriously LOVE that! What better way to spend my time than by being a tool in God’s hand in bringing blessings into someone’s life. ❤️

One of the things we did this week was volunteer at the local food pantry(: it was so great! We handed food out to their clients and then we put some boxes together for the next week. It was great work and definitely heart warming.

We also did a “Service Scavenger Hunt” on Friday! It was so fun! We made a list of things that we could do to serve people and then asked if we could complete one for them! After we had a song practice (for the musical number) we stayed and helped Sis. Harrison (our accompanist) with some dusting and vacuuming which is very hard for her to do because of her arthritis. It was so warming to help her and know that we made a difference for her.

We also were able to stop by and help out the Ek family! Sister Ek is pregnant and has been super sick, so we helped her clean her kitchen. It was great! She was so grateful!

On Saturday we helped the Barton’s. We sanded and stained her kitchen chairs fun colors! It was so fun! Afterwards Sister Barton had me help her son, Mason, with his piano song that he’s playing to accompany his sister, Ella, for a Christmas performance. They’ll be playing/singing “Silent Night”, but the last note is too low for Ella to hit. So they’d been praying for an answer of how they can change it so she can sing it comfortably, and to try and find out how to incorporate an intro. I’m so grateful for the talents that God has blessed me with!

Because I was able to help answer their prayers, and I helped them find a perfect way Ella could end the song without hitting that really low note. And I helped them write and intro! I love music(: the power and love it brings to people’s hearts is simply beautiful!

It was incredible to see and feel God work through me this week. I feel so blessed to be the instrument in His hands and serve the people of Wylie. What an amazing experience!

We had another great lesson with Karen this week! She got back from her church history tour which is just incredible that she even went! I love her so much! Her fiancé’s son Gage just got home from his mission so he helped us teach the commandments and the importance of keeping the Sabbath Day holy. 🙂 ahh Karen is so great!! ❤️❤️

Love y’all thanks so much for the life updates and words of inspiration! Y’all are the best!

Much love,

Sister Swan
