We had a pretty good week! Hope y’all had a great one too!
Ahhh I got my itinerary for the MTC!!! I’m leaving the Texas Dallas Mission on December 16th! I will have to head straight to the airport from the mission so I won’t be going home first like I’d originally thought but I’m so excited!! I will likely be at the MTC for 12 days and then I’m off to the great Down Under! Woohoo! Can’t wait!
Last Monday we had another FHE with the Bush family (3rd Ward’s Ward mission leader)! Leo came again(; I adore their family!! It seriously is such a blast to be with them! And this week we did a special thanksgiving lesson. They have this awesome Thankful Tree that they decorate every year after Halloween to help them all get in the attitude of gratitude for thanksgiving(: it was so sweet and after we decorated it we all wrote what we were grateful for on little paper leaves and hung them on the tree too! It’s such a great idea, and it’s awesome cuz the true is all set up for Christmas right after too! π
we took some pictures below haha
So we also go to meet with our recent convert Heather again this week for another new member lesson. But it was cut a little short…. So earlier that day we’d eaten something that wasn’t quite right and we haven’t figured out what it was but I got food poisoning or something after eating Β it… Lol No bueno :/ so I was sick for a little bit that day, but it’s all good now! Haha
There’s this member in the 2nd Ward, Sister Barch, who noticed for awhile now that Sister Jorgensen and I would accidentally match ALL the time. (We also say the same things at the same time like ALL time… haha it’s kinda creepy sometimes 😂 we are constantly “jinxing” each other lol) Haha I guess when you spend so much time with a person you begin to dress alike (; but it would happen on a weekly basis and Sister Barch was always the first to notice x) but last we we actually didn’t match at all, and Sister Barch said she was “so disappointed” in us haha(; so yesterday we decided to match completely for her! We took a picture all together below.. I love her so much!! She’s got a daughter on a mission in Macedonia! π
Also this week we swung by to teach one of our investigators, Nyangdeng (13). She actually wasn’t home yet but her sister, Nikki (16), was! We hadn’t met her yet, but it was pouring outside and so she let us come inside(: We talked to her a little and it turns out she has been to youth activities in the past and loved it. And we were even able to share the Restoration with her. It was a great lesson! We gave her a Book of Mormon and she was thumbing through it before we even left(: Nyangdeng came home a little before we left so we were able to self up another time to come and visit them both! They’re such great girls!
We also had a lesson with Apat! She has been coming with Nyangdeng (they’re cousins) to young women’s for several months. A few weeks ago after one of our visits we were thinking about dropping her, because she just didn’t seem like she was progressing… but then our Relief Society President in 3rd Ward, Sister Forrest, volunteered to come to a lesson with us, and it was awesome! We reviewed the Restoration with her and talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and the importance of it in our daily lives. Sister Forrest was perfect! She shared the most perfect experience that related right to Apat. We felt the Spirit real strong and were able to see her the next night at mutual and she was talking about how she was going right home to read the Book of Mormon! Love her!
We met with Staci (the less-active, return missionary) again!! We weren’t able to share a lesson but we got to chat with her and see how she’s doing. We met her son Drew and he had us help him with his Freshman Algebra 2 homework… Yeah… we didn’t help at all lol x) who knew you could forget so much in just 2-3 years! But it was fun visiting with them! Staci showed us a neat recipe for cauliflower! She
breaded it and baked it and then covered it in buffalo sauce(: it was yummy! And super vegetarian! Woohoo!
This Sunday we had an awesome Regional Stake conference that was broadcasted from Salt Lake City, UT! It was so neat(: we had a nice live session right beforehand and there was a member of the 3rd Ward who played the interlude music on the piano and it was GORGEOUS! I cried… He played a beautiful medley of “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and “How Great Thou Art” it was simply incredible! I could listen to worthy and beautiful piano music like that ALL day! 😍🎶🎹 but the conference was so good! We heard from an Apostle of the Church, Dallin H. Oaks, who talked about how “the Gospel of Jesus Christ and its Plan of Salvation, is the guidebook for mortality and the roadmap for eternity”! I loved that quote, because it is so true! I would be so lost if it weren’t for this wonderful Gospel! We also heard from other General authorities of the Church. Elder Lynn G.
Robbins spoke about simplifying our lives and drawing nearer to the Savior through simple means of discipleship. It was so refreshing to hear that, as our world today is becoming more complicated and loud each and every day. And Elder Robbins also counseled us to live within our means and find contentment with what we have. I love that! Contentment brings peace, and peace brings joy!
Love y’all so much! Hope your upcoming week is fantastic!!
Much love,
Sister Swan
