A Tale of Two Missions: Chapter 8

Another week has come and gone! Can’t believe it!

Last Monday we had a lesson with Karen. She officially is moving to McKinney so we will have to pass her along to those missionaries up there πŸ™ I have loved teaching her! We taught her about the gospel of Jesus Christ and talked about her baptism. It will be the week of thanksgiving. She hasn’t decided on the day just yet. She was talking to us about the Book of Mormon and said she wanted to read the whole Book of Mormon before she was baptized. We did the math and from thatday there was exactly 40 days before the 28th which is the Saturday of the week of thanksgiving. The 40 days was perfect because we just finished a 40 day book of Mormon challenge with the mission and had the schedule all ready. We all decided to read the Book of Mormon all together again. It has been such a cool thing and we text pretty often back and forth with her sharing things that stuck out in the days reading. She is so golden! I’ll miss teaching her! She is on her church history tour this week! I love her so much!

Also on Monday we had a family home evening (FHE) lesson at our Ward mission Leaders home with one of our investigators, Leo. He moved here from Cameroon and we have recently taught his brother and nephew. He LOVED FHE! Our Ward mission leader has small kids and all the kids were involved in the lesson(: They conducted the lesson and shared the thoughts and it was so much fun! Leo had such a great time and was already talking about coming again! Which we’re going to do tonight.

We had another lesson with him the next day and talked about the plan of salvation. He told us he agrees with everything he has been learning and loves the church. He had read the intro and testimonies of the Book of Mormon and told us all about what he had learned(: We were able to take him to a baptism that the elders had in our district and he seemed to really enjoy that. He loves learning and loves all

the experiences he has been having! It has been so fun seeing him grow!

We had another really neat experience on Tuesday last week! We didn’t have a dinner scheduled that night so we just ate at our apartment. All missionaries are typically supposed to eat at 5. Well at 5:30 we got a call from some elders serving in Plano. They said they were driving down the street and saw a really bad accident. The man involved turned out to be a less active man from Wylie. They called to see if we could get in touch with his family. We didn’t have his info so we said we would call the other elders serving in Wylie 1. They didn’t have a meal either and they were able to find this mans family’s information and inform them of the accident and get him the help that he needed. What are the chances that all three of our

companionships didn’t have a meal scheduled from 5-6? The Lord made all that happen so that that man was able to be helped. Things like that make me marvel. The gospel is so true. πŸ™‚ God does know when we will need help and provides ways to fill our needs.

This last week we decided that this time reading the Book of Mormon in 40 days we would read it as a companionship out loud. It has been such a neat experience. πŸ™‚ I know that this book is true. Β It fills my heart with joy when I read it. I’m learning so much and my testimony grows each day that we read! I love the Book of Mormon with all my heart and I know that a study of it can bring such a power into our lives. I am SO grateful for the gospel! I can’t imagine my life without it! ❀️

In other news, plans are going well for my departure to Australia(: still waiting on the Visa but word is that it’s going well! I can’t wait! πŸ™‚ I love y’all so much and thanks for all the awesome emails and words of encouragement! Y’all are the best!

Much love,

Sister Swan
