Hey y’all (:
So this week I was told on two different occasions that 1. “you’re not Texan, cuz you were born in Utah!! you don’t even have the Texan accent” and then 2. “oh yeah you definitely aren’t from Utah because you have a southern accent..” and THEN the cherry on top (and this one I’m totally claiming) an American tourist we met (story to follow.) told me that my American accent has actually worn off and I actually have an Aussie flair… yes. just yes. So now I don’t even know what I sound like haha oh well, I’m unique I suppose x) In other news, TRANSFERS ARE THIS WEEKEND!!! good grief this transfer has FLOWN by… literally… I think my name is taking on a new meaning.. OH speaking of my name: something incredible happened this week…….. I was FINALLY able to communicate with an Australian bird!!! I think it was a Lorikeet. but FINALLY! 🙂 haha when I was serving in Texas I could whistle back and forth with the birds there imitating their whistles.. but here, the birds are all either actually pterodactyls, or constantly whistling so you can’t whistle back haha but THIS WEEK it happened! It was great.. I don’t know what we said to each other but we had a great little conversation me and that Lorikeet.. so cool.
Anyway.. on a more serious note. I love this area and I’m pretty positive I’ll stay in Bathurst again. Which is exciting because next weekend is not only conference weekend (in the states) but also Mount Panorama Race Weekend! (pictures below) Mount Panorama is a famous car racetrack around what Australians call a “mountain” (it’s more like a hill haha) but the view is FANTASTIC 🙂 can’t wait to see this town double in size for the races haha #contacting4dayzz
American story: We were meeting with our friend Emma at Hungry Jacks (Burger King for you americans lol) and we decided to play Jenga cuz we’d promised Emma we would. So we were playing and then this American couple decided to come join us haha it was awesome(: so we took a picture and then I lost… ugh.. next time haha
So rather than bore you with my insufficient spirituality.. I thought I’d let the wisdom of my father enlighten y’all today(: He sent this to me today and I thought it was an incredible distinction 🙂 enjoy
“I thought about how I want to be a disciple of Christ. In Latin the word “discipuli” means a learner. Actually, it is a diminutive form of the word, so it means a little learner, like a kid! lol. Anyway, a disciple is one who learns from the master and who does everything the master does. Wears the same clothes, eats the same food, speaks and acts as the master does. A true disciple of Christ would not only learn the doctrine, but also live his/her life the way Christ would.”
