A Tale of Two Missions: Chapter 3

Hey y’all!

Wow this week was incredible!!! So much happened and it was awesome! Heather’s baptism was on Saturday! Which was so great(: pictures below, I’m so happy for her and her cute family!! And we had 4 investigators at church yesterday(:

So Nerris and Leo (last week I wrote that his name was Lou but we had it wrong in our records lol) were two of the investigators that came to church!! And Bob, an elderly investigator, came too!! And James was there with his kids too, Lori didn’t come this week though :/

It was awesome! We had an incredible gospel principles lesson by our Ward mission leader. He talked about the gathering of Israel. And how it applies to all of us and  we can all play a part. What I thought was absolutely incredible was how in 3 Nephi 21:1-3 it talks about the sign of the commencement of the gathering of Israel, and how it’s the Book of Mormon!! I never thought of it like that! It was really neat. And our other investigator Bob told us afterwards that he was astounded at the sheer proof of the truth of the Book of Mormon, and he felt a change in himself. He said that Sunday was the very first time that he actually felt a huge desire to read the Book of Mormon and know more! It was a miracle because he’s been investigating for

almost a year now and hasn’t progressed at all. He always seems to want to skip the foundations of the gospel and go straight to deeper doctrine without gaining a testimony of the Book of Mormon or in Joseph Smith. So with this new desire to read the Book of Mormon I know that he’ll be able to answer those concerns and questions that he has and grow closer to Christ(:

So let me tell you about Michael and his family(: Michael has been less active most of his life and he’s married to Theresa who’s a non member and they have three kids. We’ve visited Michael on Tuesday and he gave us both some CDs he burned for us. He’s so great he gives all sorts of mission appropriate music from his AMAZING music collection(: so in the past when missionaries have visited him, his wife is completely disinterested and wants nothing to do with organized religion.. But this time when we taught PRO to him and his 5 yr old daughter and he mentioned he had a baptist pastor friend who was wanting him to come to church with them on Saturdays, after the lesson he said he wanted to go get his wife for the prayer. She’d been feeling sick and he felt like she would like to hear the prayer. She she came in and Sis. Jorgensen said the prayer. When it was over we looked up and they both had tears in their eyes and they hugged and Micheal said “we’re going to church on sunday!” Sunday!!! Not Saturday!! It was so spiritual(: but two days later we found out Theresa was still pretty sick, so we got Sis. Barch in the Ward to have us help her make a meal for them and we took it over to them(: and the next day another lady made them one too! And on Saturday too(: and he texted us saying how grateful he was and how much he appreciates it. I hope this is something that will help them come back to church! He said that Theresa is talking about maybe listening to the lessons and considering a blessing so that’s a good sign!

And I guess the other awesome thing that happened was the mission president’s fireside last night! Leo came with us and it was INCREDIBLE! They had new converts bear their testimonies and lots of musical performances and Mormon messages shown(: it was so powerful! And I really think it helped Leo to feel the spirit especially after his first time at church that day!!

Ok so get this…. We have a celebrity in our Ward!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhh I seriously can’t even deal…. He’s the illustrator for FABLEHAVEN!!! Ok so I guess it’s not THAT big of a deal… But I THINK SO!!! AND he’s our Ward Mission Leader!! Like WHAT?!? I haven’t told him I know yet… I think I would totally embarrass myself if I did… I’m a mess lol but ITS SO COOL!!! I adore those books!!! Maybe he’ll sign a copy for me?! 😍😍 haha

Also I’m pretty sure this mission has been the best thing for me habit-wise lol I’ve only missed ONE day of flossing!! Haha and I make my bed and everything every morning! I’m pretty much perfect 😉 haha no I’m kidding.. But seriously.. Mission life is the best!

Well that’s all for now I guess….

Much love,

Sister Swan
