A Tale of Two Missions: Chapter 20

Ok so I want to first bear my testimony on how God answers prayers… this week we went to TWO members homes this week and were given.. wait for iiittttt.. MEXICAN FOOD! I thought I’d died and went to heaven.. We had burritos at one member’s house and then enchiladas at anothers(: and one of the members gave me some Costco mexican rice meal to make later this week. haha it wasn’t authentic by any means but it did the job πŸ˜‰ haha God is good y’all!! And then on the downside… we found out that my companion has eaten more horse than she has ridden them.. so uh.. there’s that.. 😲
Also since we’re on the topic of food… Sister Stott made this HEAVENLY Thai stir-fry dish that is seriously SO good! haha the ingredients are: coconut milk, peanut butter, chicken, fresh red bell peppers and green beans, garlic and sweet chile sauce. over rice.. weird. but GOOD! haha food here is definitely different πŸ˜‰

I can’t believe I’ve already been on my mission for 20 weeks! Whew time flies.. but MIRACLES HAPPEN!! We had THREE investigators in church yesterday(: Amanda and her daughters (Peta and Amber) came! She’s the one I talked about last week! Her oldest Peta is of age to be baptized so we’re going to start teaching her too! And Amanda has said that she’s going to be coming back every week from now on! (: but that the girls will only come every other week cuz they’ll be with their Dad on some weekends.. but WE’LL TAKE IT! It was incredible! She’s amazing and she mentioned to us a few times that she was overwhelmed on how “nice” people were and how she’s never felt so loved! I’m so happy for her, and her girls are so cute!!

We also had a less-active 11 yr old named Isla come to church with us! She’s so cute(: She and her brothers Regan and Ethan were baptized last year and haven’t been to church in months.. so it was SO great to have her there with us(: we even went over before church to do her hair and get her ready! love her!

We also went and saw Bruce again this week! Oh my heavens… People are killing me with their one liners in this country. Bruce committed to be baptized last week when we met with him, then this week we were talking about the commandments. And in doing so we asked him if he wanted to become more like Jesus Christ! And he sat there and thought about it for a few minutes and said (dead seriously), “Well ya know, I’m not too keen on being crucified…” hahahaha we carefully reassured him that that wouldn’t happen any time soon on our watch πŸ˜‰ He’s so great! (btw thanks for catching me up on the Finding Nemo reference with his name! hahaha I didn’t even realize it!! lol)

This week has been great and the work is moving along here in Woden! We’ve started doing scheduled weekly member exchanges! So cool! (: Please continue to pray for us and those we teach! love y’all so much!!! Thanks for everything you do for me and the work of salvation!

Much love,
Sister Swan

Pics: this country is GORGEOUS haha (ft. a random silhouette of a guy crossing the street lol), in front of the Australian National Library where we email each week! (pretty much the Library of Congress Aussie style haha), and Tim Tam Slams anyone?? Yum!
