A Tale of Two Missions: Chapter 28

Hey y’all sorry about the confusion.. you see, yesterday was Canberra Day!! A public holiday which means the National Library was closed unfortunately, so they moved our P-Day to today! 🙂

Wheww what a crazy week! We saw more miracles with Amanda! She is so great and so solid!! Man, I can’t wait for April 2nd! She’s doing great with her commitment to quite smoking! We bought her some gum because that’s what’s been really helping her! She’s progressing so much! She and her cute kids came to a member baptism in the other Ward and loved it! She was so funny, afterwards during the luncheon she stood up and said “all of yous are all invited to MY baptism on April 2nd!! As long as you bring food from Costco!” 😉 haha so funny! love her so much! 🙂 On Saturday I had an exchange with Sister Yonthawin (from Thailand), and was quite possibly one of the craziest days of my whole mission experience!! This of course had absolutely nothing to do with Sis. Yonthawin though, she was amazing! But every single thing that we had prayerfully and solidly planned, fell through. So we didn’t have a car (because I’m not the assigned driver here in Woden, only Sister Stott can drive our car unless she’s with me) we ended up missing our bus home and had to walk for hours all the way from Kingston to Fyshwick (about 8-9 kilometers, roughly 5ish miles..) in the heat of the day (about 34 degrees celsius). I felt really bad for Sis. Yonthawin, but she was such a trooper! And then around 4pm our WML picked us up and took us over to his son’s birthday party where we were to meet Amanda (with her kids) and Yvette, our investigators with baptismal dates. Well all was well until everyone else for the party was an hour late (because they had done a pre-party activity at a local trampoline gym thing), and we had a TORRENTIAL downpour that came literally out of nowhere and rained out the party, the barbeque and everything. During which poor Amber (Amanda’s 6yr old daughter) was stung by a bee… and then our WML unintentionally offended both our investigators so they both left, and as a result Yvette potentially dropped us (for sure her baptismal date… but have no fear we’re not giving up on her! We’ll try and set another date with her soon…) and we were stuck at this not-so-party party (well actually, after everyone else arrived they all jumped in the pool even though it was raining haha at least someone had a good time 😁) for 3 hrs trying to clean things up and fix relationships but mostly just standing around getting absolutely SOAKED and being completely useless because we had no ride to get out of there and go back to work. Which I guess didn’t matter as much because all our other appointments canceled for the night as well… Wheww, it was such a hard day, but I’m definitely taking this as a learning experience, and have repented and will dedicate 150% of myself to the Lord everyday to make up for it! 😇

My exchange with Sister Wong was a LOT better though! We visited some potentials, invited one to be baptized (she said yes!), and went tracting and found some keen potentials. We visited this little Philapina woman who was obsessed with America! Haha it was pretty funny, but also really hard because for a bit all she wanted to talk about was the Presidential election and how Donald Trump is crazy… Lol that definitely seems to be the passing vote from every Australian that finds out we’re American too. Ugh.. politics.. Why can’t everyone just be obsessed with the Book of Mormon?? I know I am! 😍 But all in all it was a pretty good day with Sister Wong! I’m just glad that exchange went a bit better than Saturdays. x)

On Sunday I had to give a talk! 🙂 I spoke about True Conversion and it went really well! I don’t have my notes written up yet, but maybe next week I can send them!

That about sums it up! I love y’all thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!

Love y’all to Kolob and back,
Sister Swan
